A memoir by Samson Raphael Levy, the great-grandson of the illustrious 19th century biblical scholar, Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch. It was Samson Raphael Hirsch who formulated the concept of Jewish Torah study integrated with secular education. Like his namesake, Levy has sought to defend his religious beliefs both in his writings and by personal example. The memoir, which begins in 1918, offers a citizen's eyewitness account of "every major event that has occurred" in Israel. The Baltimore Sun |
