Joseph Carmi was born in Jerusalem
during the British mandate. He graduated from the School of Education
in Hebrew University and later earned both a Masters of Arts and Masters
of Law degree. He received his Rabbinical Degree in Israel, and served
as spiritual leader in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and Petersborough, Ontario,
where he published his first book, The Experiences of an Israeli
Rabbi in a Little Town in the USA.
Rabbi Carmi also served as the Hebrew Language Director in the Jewish
School in Helsinki, Finland, where he wrote the first Hebrew-Finnish
dictionary.
