Wurzburger, Rabbi Walter

The late Rabbi Walter Wurzburger (z"l) was a moving force in Jewish philosophy. In addition to his work in education, writing and editing, and leading Congregation Shaarey Tefila in Lawrence, New York, the late Rabbi Wurzburger was also the head of both the Rabbinical Council of America and the Synagogue Council of America during his illustrious career. Rabbi Wurzburger is the author of God Is Proof Enough. During his career, he edited Tradition, a quarterly Orthodox intellectual journal from 1962 to 1988, authored Ethics of Responsibility: Pluralistic Approaches to Covenantal Ethics, co-edited A Treasury of Tradition and received both the National Rabbinic Leadership Award and the Samuel Belkin Literary Award. And, in addition to teaching philosophy and Jewish thought since 1967 at Yeshiva University, where he was an Adjunct Professor of Philosophy, Rabbi Wurzburger was also a member of the International Jewish Committee on Interreligious Consultations, a leading Jewish group dealing with the Vatican.
